I just installed my PCI Radeon into a G4 450MP with 512Mb RAM in order to run 2 monitors. While 3D gaming is great, it seems that using Power Windows and iTunes "Live" window moving has created an extreamly choppy experience. So much so, that I disabled the Power Windows Control Panel. Scrolling seems exceptable and If I turn off acceleration on the ATI menu, everything slows to a crawl, as expected.

So i know the Radeon is doing 2D acceleration...Just really slowly. The same problem with OS X. My 128 Pro had windows flowing around smoothly, but the Radeon makes it a bit choppier(better than power windows in 9.1 however)

As I said earlier, 3D gaming is great with the Radeon. no problems there.

Any one else?

Thanks,
Brian

Make sure you have all your ATI drivers enabled and up to date. 2D acceleration on my Radeon is blazingly fast (except in OS X but that's another story).

I disabled some of the extensions that OpenGL added for ATI and some 128 specific extensions and things seem to be a little better. OS X acceleration sees a little better too, once I took out the card and moved it to another PCI slot. I hear that ATI will be putting out a new driver that supports Anti -aliasing and all. Can't wait.

Strike that. I have almost zero QT Acceleration. Minimal, but better than before, 2D acceleration and AWSOME 3D Acceleration in OS 9.1. I'm using Radeon Driver 1.1.1. i have reinstalled it several times now. I'm assuming my card is defective. Acceleration is checked in the ATI menu.

I seem to remember, back in August or so,a few articals saying that the Radeon had poor 2D acceration. i've searched for those articals and can't find any. O well. Broken card.
