i've been looking for the same thing. here are the options that i know of:

usb: ati and eskape make external usb tuners. the problem with this, is the limited bandwidth of usb. the picture size will be small, probably 320 x something. not great. but decent reviews on the eskape myusb/fm.

pci: formac makes protv stereo. not so hot reviews on the product. does support 640 x 480 and u can make this full screen. uses the cpu to decode. there have been audio sync issues as you need to connect the sound by plugging input into the g4's microphone port.

firewire: formac's studio. external, firewire, seems great, can capture and sendvideo to just about any source, and has a tvtuner/fm tuner to boot. unfortunately, it's $400!!!!!

i've been leaning towards the studio, but haven't been able to get myself to purchase it, cause it's so expensive. i could buy a huge tv at this price! if you hear of anything else, please let me know, i want to get rid of my tv to save myself room when i move from dorm to home, etc.

hope this helps.

This is not true. Formac sells two cards. The older ProTV card required wiring the sound. The newer ProTV Stereo does not require audio pass cables.

I own the ProTV Stereo and it is not too bad. There are a fews issues, like playing full screen it will sometimes lock-up the machine. I have narrowed it down to a few Apple extensions that it might be conflicting with (I think it might be the control strip extension). Also there is no Mac OS X support yet. So unfrotunately the only time I need to use OS X over 9 is when I want to watch a DVD or TV...bummer.

spicyjeff, can you do me a huge favor and give me a screen grab of an image (TV show) from your card if you have one? I have a 466 G4, so it does not have sound in :-(. Will sound work with the sterio one?

Hey, I'm in OS X right now but if I go into 9 later I'll grab some pics and/or video for you. Capturing is really easy, you just click record for video or simply drag and drop the screen for a screen capture. As far as timed recording I don't know, I'll look into that but I have never had a need but don't know.
You can probably download the software from Formac and take a look at the options, you just won't have a video signal so it will be a blank blue screen.
