I know Monsoon sells an iMM700 (graphite) model that comes standard with an analog->USB digital audio converter now. I'm wondering if the regular MM702 comes with that adapter as well. Has anyone tried ordering the adapter alone and if so, does it work with the MM702, in OS 9, in OS X?

Just out of curiosity, why would you want USB Speakers? From my experience good ol' analog speakers work better, and don't eat up processor cycles. Are there any advantages that you know of that I'm not thinking of? (Other than USB is 'digital')

The analog audio more than serves my needs. I thought "digital audio" was supposed to be better. In what terms, I don't know.

Also, Apple seems to be pushing "USB digital audio" over analog, at least in OS X. Analog audio-in is already gone on the newer systems and OS X defaults to USB audio-in. I don't think they will get rid of analog audio-out any time soon, but I'd like to see how USB audio-out fares. Does it suck [CPU cycles] badly, on OS 9, or X?

most people have noted problems in OS X. Analog audio is still better than "digital USB" for the time being...mostly because the speakers offered today that have USB audio-just really aren't that good.

I have to vote for analog for the time being too....I have a new set of Harman/Kardon SoundSticks. They sound great but OS X periodically just quits sending audio to them.
