I must say that my new LaCie 19blue is awesome! the Picture quailty is just awesome, but setting the resolution at 1600x1200 makes the font just a little to small for my liking... I own a NEC FE700, use Apple CRT and LCD at school and all I gotta say is I definetely like my LaCie more when compared to those 3.

But, out of nowhere and suddenly my monitor has developed a problem. There's a whole bunch of faint vertical lines on the middle bottom of the screen very similar to the 2 damper wires in all aperture grill monitors. I don't think that's normal... anyone else have this problem? I'm gonna take it back on Monday and exchange it for a new one.

Page 19 of your instruction book reads as follows:

"Black vertical lines are visible on the screen.

This minor problem is caused by grille element overlap which can occur during shipping.

Position an open white window over the affected area of the screen and maximise the brightness and contrast controls. This will cause localized heating of the overlap which will clear in a few minutes, be sure to readjust the brightness and viewing controls to the normal viewing levels after this procedure."

Then I'd give LaCie a call or exchange it at the store. Good luck!

Hmmm... 3 of the 4 vertical lines are gone now.... but there's still one very noticeble line left. I've tried doing that window and increasing the brightness method, no luck...

have you had this problem as well?

No. But I got an older 21" refurbished instead of buying the 19" The thing about buying refurbished is you don't get the full warranty, but on the other hand you do get the fact that a technician has individually checked it out. That's something you don't normally get with mass produced electronics. Instead, there is batch sampling and a warranty for the goods that slip through.

I'd take your monitor back to the store and exchange it for another. They shouldn't give you any grief. If they do, call LaCie. They seem like a helpful company.

Glad to hear it resolved itself.

Out of curiosity, are you using the hood? I just got mine yesterday (they forgot to ship it initially). I put it on and it makes the monitor look pretty bizarre. But it does work and it's nice not having glare on the screen. I guess on balance I'll keep it even though it look so gimmicky. How 'bout you?

Yup, I put it on the second I put my new monitor on the desk... I don't my the hood at at all. I find the hood helps keep my eye foucsed on the moniter better then without the hood on.

I can see how that would be. It looks odd from the side particularly because i have a small desk and the 21" is so huge. But it's nice from the user position.

I am suffering from old monitor syndrome. I have a 17 inch micron monitor that is getting all fuzzy. it's a pain. So, I am thinking aboout a new monitor and the electrol blue looks like a good choice. how much would a refurbished 21inch cost someone like me? and do I order it from lacie or somewhere else?

P.D.

www.lacie.com then go to the store and click on clearance to see what they have available. I paid $399 for my 21" with free shipping and 90 day warranty. That's the same price as the 19" Diamond Blue III new.

The only problem was Fedex ground, which is the free shipping option. They lost the package, then found it, then lost it again, then claimed to have found it, then lied about when they were delivering it (told me the driver was walking in the door). Finally, someone admitted the truth that it had never left the terminal. That person then arranged for Laser Courier to take it to me directly.

Anyway, it's a great monitor.

Try http://onlineshop.lacie.com/Shop/ListRange.cfm?range=6

It's in the "online shop" section. Or call (503) 844 4502

Good luck!
