Are there any scanners that have OSX drivers? I was in the Palo Alto Apple store looking at scaners, and asked if which ones have OSX drivers, and got a response of "None". That's pretty lame.

Can anyone point me to a few options? Looking for a fairly nice scanner in the +/- $100 range. Not for professional use.

Thanks.

I just bought an HP Scanjet 5300c scanner, no OSX drivers, it does run in classic and is around 100 US, but I think I am going to return it and buy a scanner once some OSX native software is availible

Take a look at www.hamrick.com and see if it's supported by Vuescan. If it is, you're all set.

I hope you mean G4. I was worried that there must have been some serious Mac news that I missed

Hey that's great! How well do you like the scanner? Do you have some scanner experience (I have very very little). how would you rate AGFA scanners?

Is that the Scanwise software you are using in OSX?

Thanks for the info!

The scanner seems to work great. My wife uses it to scan in her photographs. You can see them at www.stephaniesheley.com. The Scanwise software works great and they have a plugin for the Photoshop Beta for OS X already. I don't use Classic for anything anymore.

I'm looking for a MacOS X consumer scanner, too, since my Visioneer scanner from my PC isn't supported on the Mac. But I'd steer clear of the recommended Agfa scanner. Not because it's not a good scanner, but because according to an article on MacNN and c-net, Agfa is exiting the business:
http://www.macnn.com/news.php?id=10385

Anybody else have any recommendations? I checked some manufacturer sites and found:

Microtek
- classic mode support only at this time
- http://www.microtekusa.com/macosx.html

Epson
- classic mode support only at this time
- http://support.epson.com/webadvice/wa0301.html

Canon
- classic mode support only at this time
- http://consumer.usa.canon.com/printers/osx.html

HP
- classic mode support only at this time
- http://www.hp.com/cposupport/printer.../bpm35006.html
- HP says Spring 02 now, but earlier docs on the site say Fall 01 so...

Umax
- OS 9 support only; doesn't work in classic
- http://www.umax.com/support/knowledg...m?docs=SC00190

It's unbelievable that there's not a single major developer of consumer flatbed scanners that supports MacOS X yet. I guess the only solution is to buy VueScan and a model that it supports. I'll probably stick with something like HP since they'll eventually get around to it. Anybody have experience using the 5300Cse?

The Lexmark x83 all-in-one scanner component is TWAIN compliant and works with the new driver andwackx83 [see the lexmark citation on versiontracker just fine. Nice printer and standalone copier. works for me.

I'm using a HP Officejet G95 and installed the latest drivers last week.
So far everything works very well with scanner support and all.
I think other drivers for scanner from HP are released shortly.

No, it is G5. VueScan works just fine on my G4 with a Umax 6400 firewire scanner. So no one has G5s so lets not worry about that yet.
