Hey

Creative has come up with an external USB SoundBlaster solution that allows for 24- bit 100dB SNR, 5.1 surround sound out from your USB- equipped... PC
www.soundblaster.com/products/extigy/

So because it's Windows only, I'd like invite you and your friends to drop by at :
http://www.soundblaster.com/feedback/

and give them a hint: with this product, they'd own the Mac market.

Well, we'd need 5.1 games and OS X, but it's coming already.

Also, there is discussion on this at SlashDot, where I picked this up:

How about making OS X drivers for the Mac Soundcard they have and upgrading it to 5.1 as the peice of kit you are talking about does not make games and the DVD player OUTPUT 5.1 Sound. A sound card and a DVD hack/update would I already have a creative 5.1 DTT 3500 which has 5.1 EAX etc but the mac does not output the right signals this is the problem...

I second that I watch a ton of DVDs on my mac now that OS X has the DVD player, I will pick up the top of the line 5.1 speaker system from cambride soundworks when I go to collage, 5.1 from my mac will save my PS2 from the wear and tear of DVDs

I GOT WASTED WITH PHIL SHERRY!!!

(I am back from uni now)

As soon as I have a card which can out put 5.1 and possibly EAX in X. I will buy one on preorder even.....

I have a DTT 3500 Sound system with external decoding for EAX and 5.1 with a card it would rule even more. At the moment I can pipe Pro Logic to it and it decodes this but it's not 5.1 as Apple cannot stream 5.1 out of it's DVD player app it's a major bug IMHO as if it did mac uses could get external decoders for DVD's (externals always give better sound than internal amps anyway)...

Also isn't this supposed to be a digital hub

Cheers Edd
