Canon S40 vs. Canon G2?
I'm leaning towards the G2, but it's kinda big. Both are 4 Megapixel and use the same system, but I dunno if the pix are of the same quality.
However, the G2 is not that much bigger than my 3 MP Kodak DC4800 though.
All three are OS X.1 compatible. My Kodak DC4800 works like a charm in OS X.

I have the G1 which I recently took on a trip to Costa Rica. It compares favorably with the G2 in size and the S30 in megapixels (3.3). I bought it something like 3 months before the G2 and the S30/S40 came out. There was a time when I thought that the G1 was too bulky, and there definitely are situations in which a tiny pocketable simple point and shoot camera like the S30/S40 (not that they are full featured also!), but the most useful feature is the swivel screen of the G1/G2. I really like the design of the S30/S40, though.

If I were to buy another camera today, it would definitely come down to the Canon G2 and the Nikon Coolpix 5000. I believe the Nikon would get the nod in my mind (higher resolution, better metering, better macro, etc).

I'll have to check out the Nikon 5000. I hadn't even considered it.
I'd love to have the smaller S40, but it seems to be missing quite a few features like the ability to use an external flash, etc. Plus, I've found out it's a slower lens with apparently more distortion compared to the G2.
Now if someone would buy my Kodak DC4800... (US$430 with extra lenses and Li batteries, etc. Good price?)

I would still take the Canon PowerShot Pro90 IS.

I like the image stabilization feature, but I don't want to buy a great big camera such as that one, esp. when it's only 2.6 MP. In that size range, I'd lean toward something like the Canon D30, if I had the coin.
The G2 seems to be a good balance between features and size.
