I was at the apple store last night and priced the apple optical mouse. I do detailed photoshop work on my PC, and would like to do the same on my iBook, but the trackpad just doesn't cut it.

One button, plastic, kind of stylish, but why so expensive? Sixty bucks for a mouse? How is Appl,e going to take market share from MS when I can buy a MS optical mouse for much less that will still work with my Mac???

I'm not cheap, but I can't see paying too much for no reason. I'm feeling like my Mac is a foreign car: Beautiful and stylish, put a pain in the a$$ (and expensive) to get parts for or to get a decent mechanic for.

Why not be a little more competitive, Apple? I know you're competing against a monopoly, but could you at least *try* to be a little more accessable? Beautiful machine, beautiful OS, but I don't feel like I'm getting enough value with my Apple purchases.

Sorry, ranting. 'Nuff Said.

Most any third party multi-button mouses will work; flip through a Mac catalog or check some online reviews.

I've a MacAlly opti jr. to use with my Pismo.

Go ahead and get a third-party mouse. You'll get a lot more mouse for a lot less.
