Hi,
I need a bluetooth usb adapter for my Quicksilver G4 that fulfils these criteria:
A) Is Bluetooth version 2.0
B) Has Class 1 output power
C) Supports Headset profile (seems many don't)
D) Is supported by OSX 10.4.8
Anyone have a recommendation? Many thanks...
Ben

I'm trying to pair it with a Hulger bluetooth Penelope phone:
Hulger - home of the original pokia phone
The ones shipping now are Bluetooth version 2.0, albeit Class 2 power. But I want the Class 1 power for possible future use and for maxing out range as part of my apartment is *just* on the edge of my current Class 2 adapter. By the way the phone, whilst expensive, is awesome - I use it with Skype.
Cheers, Ben

I found that the DBT-120 adapter from D-Link was the ONLY bluetooth adapter that allowed my headset to pair with my Mac. It says this on Apple's website somewhere, and I went through two other models that did everything but headset-pairing.
Good luck finding a 2.0 version with Class 1 power that will also adhere to whatever strict guidelines Apple's laid down to get headsets working properly.
EDIT: wtf is that phone?? perhaps a real headset would provide better functionality?

That does seem to be the best supported headset on OSX, although it's only Bluetooth 1.1 and Class 2 power, and you may have to upgrade the firmware via Apple's utility in order to get Headset profile.... hmmm.... can't seem to find what I need.
I guess I could live with Class 2 power, but I do want Bluetooth v2.0.
That phone? :-) Imagine a 1940s phone handset, only bluetooth and for VOIP calls!

personally, I use my bluetooth Scala 500 both with mobile and with Skype. Sound is excellent, range is excellent, and the multi-use aspect of pairing with either mobile or laptop is great.

Forgot to ask, but did you put a usb 2.0 pci card in your Quicksilver? If you're using the onboard bluetooth, you might as well go for a usb 1.1 bluetooth device. I used a Belkin usb bluetooth receiver with my old Ti-400, only $10.

Actually I haven't... now that you mention it I guess that kinda negates the point of having Bluetooth 2.0. Or can Bluetooth 2.0 work on USB 1.1? The specs seem to indicate the above device is USB 1.1:
BLUETAKE BT007SX Bluetooth EDR USB Adapter
Now am realy confused :-)
I recently bought a generic USB 2.0 PCI card but it didn't work on my mac. Guess maybe I should get one if I want to use Bluetooth 2.0.
