I have a Logitech ''Trackman marble Wheel'....in OS X the scroll wheel etc doesn't operate, I just get point and click functionality. I really like the mouse and don't want to change if I can help it. Anyway I have mailed their Customer service a few times since the release of OS X, about drivers etc and they were always really non commital...and said they would get back to me and never did....
Anyway, I got an email from them this morning saying that;
"We are committed to supporting our mice and trackballs on the Macintosh platform and will continue to develop software for the Macintosh operating systems. We expect to have a preliminary release available in Q1 2002. Please check our website periodically for updates."
Not really important, but kind of cool in a small Logitech customer way!
Also if anyone could answer this I would be grateful...
I really want an iPod, as my current MP3 player (Rio 500!) eats batteries like nothing else and holds about 2 songs!....but, I have over 12+ gig of Mp3s on my Powermac...what happens in this situation with auto synching with iTunes etc...and also is there a way of turning off this feature?
Cheers in Advance,
Marc

ipod:
if you have auto sync on and there's not enough of space on the ipod, it'll say that there isn't enough space and won't transfer anything. you can turn off auto sync and tranfer your files manually. what i've heard other people do is to drag a playlist over to their ipod and all the songs on that playlist get transfered (as long as not over ~4.6 gb). and since firewire is so fast, you can transfer whatever playlist onto it each morning depending on what you feel like listening to
i got a logitech mouse and this is good news. the mouse companies need to get drivers out. kensignton is the only company that has drivers out. i don't know why your scroll wheel doesn't operate (do you mean that little webwheel software thing they made??). with my mouse i get basic function. i get the left and right click and the scroll wheel. everything else is useless. hopefully they get the drivers out soon.

Cheers for the response,
I have been caught in 2 minds about buying an iPod for ages but now I know how it works I'm going to sort out my order today!
With regard to the mouse, I actually haven't tried it on OS X.1...in 10.0.4 I got just the movement and L/R click features so assumed it would just be the same in X.1...I'll give it a go and see what happens...
Cheers
Marc
*Update* the mouse now indeed works in 10.1.2, I guess I should have guessed it might be the case after all the revisions 10.1 brought....seems I have been restricted not by logitech by my lack of common sense!

I got the same e-mail from LogiTech last night. (But you beat me to posting it!)
Good news indeed.
Side note: I'd love to get an MS Office Keyboard, but Microsoft has not created OS X drivers for it yet. (Just 9).
