Hi, my archos external Firewiredrive is invisible for macOS 9.0.4. I have the newest firewire extensions.

But..I can see it with programs like Norton Utilities and (i thought) Spring Cleaning too.

So, if these programs can detect the HD..which utility do I need to get access to the HD??

I would be so happy with the right answer..there is a lot of data on the disk

Does the drive show up as a FW device in the Apple System Profile? It should. No experience with FW, but when that happens in SCSI (shows up as a device but not mounted) then it usually means the drivers on the drive aren't right. Is it formatted as a Mac or a Wintel drive? Also, can you get it to work on any other computers?

well, when I bought it, it was PC-formatted. According to the manual it should have automatically initialized to mac-format when first plugged in a mac.

Now it is recognized as a "A-trash pc-mac exchange ms dos"..

If this doesn't pop your mind..

Anyhow, I tried multiple utilities (springcleaning, Norton antivirus/utils, diskwarrior, canopener...) thay all see it but cannot access it's contents. (only a global view of the folders)

Still waiting for a conclusion :

I'd suggest purchasing a utility like Radialogic's StorageMaster or FWB's Hard Disk Toolkit 4.0, both of which support FireWire, and formatting the drive with that.

Unfortunately both mean a $100+ investment in what I'm sure was already a relatively pricey HD.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help... all my FireWire drives that aren't designed just for the Mac (like VST's) have come bundled with StorageMaster.
