A friend of mine wants to try my apple usb keyboard on his PC...
He plans to buy one if that works fine.
Do you think that it will work ?
And if it works with my keyboard, does it means that it will work as well with the new keyboard.

Since it's a standard USB keyboard, it should work. However, if it doesn't, don't expect any support from Apple.

My guess is that Apple only tested its keyboard Macs with built-in USB.

I have tried using an Apple USB keyboard and mouse (both from 2nd gen G4) on an IBM PC just for grins with no luck. Once I plugged in the OEM KB & mouse, it worked fine. I did not do a whole lot of troubleshooting with that setup (I was in a hurry) but initial tests proved negative.

...my friend tried my apple usb keyboard: it worked well under linux, and it didn't work under Windows98. As he only uses linux, he will buy a blueberry one... =)

You need to install the USB HID drivers for the keyboard before it will work.

There is no reason at all for any Apple USB Keyboard *not* to work under Windows.
