Anyone found a device that supports connecting multiple sound output devices to your Mac? What I need is a device that allows me to coonect 3 or more output devices like speakers, head phones, etc. It needs to allow me to select which device is active and if possible multiple devices at a time, so rather than a simple "select a port" switch an "on/off" switch would be better. I would also like it to be powered so it does not degrade sound quality or add noise.

I would consider a USB device, but I would perfer one that uses the standard sound output port, since that will be the standard for a long while for sound cards and i imagine most Macs.

I would perfer somthing small that does not require batteries, but has an A/C power connection.

Any info. on a similar device for input devices would be appreciated.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

To select a signal path from audio out on your mac to speakers, headphones etc., you need a channel splitter. I think Monacor made one. I think it's unpowered, and it's cheap. Try your local cheap electronics store.
For selecting between different inputs you need a small mixer. Try the MidiMan Micromixer 18. It's got 18 channels, and it's somewhat cheap.
A small (but bigger than the above mentioned mentioned) mixer with different outputs (Behringer, for example) could solve your needs for selecting betwwen both input and output.
