I have a lacie D2 hard drive, Firewire 400, with a 200 GB hard drive.
The drive was giving me troubles (clicking noises, shutting down), so I replaced it with a Seagate 320 GB (Barracuda, 7200.10 ATA/100 16 MB).
But my computer (2 GHz imac 20" G5, os x10.4.8 ) only sees 128 GB.
How is this possible? Can anyone help me out?

Thanks in advance, greetings Jan

The easy/obvious answer is that the chipset in the LaCrap enclosure doesn't support LBA48, so it can only see the first 128GB.

But that of course doesn't explain why the 200GB worked before. Perhaps they used some hack to get around the 128GB limit on the 200GB like playing with the geometry.

Not relevant, since standard HFS supports >128GB volumes.

Most likely, either the LaCie case doesn't have full 48-bit LBA support, or the drive is jumpered wrong and is so being limited to 128GB.
