I want more hard drive space for my iMac DV SE and am curious what the best way to upgrade it is? Are there any reliable firewire hard drives on the market? What about the electronicdogs.com company shown on dealnn. What do people think about the macally cases do they work well? Are USB drives an option? Thanks!

it depends on your application of said hard drive. If you're simply looking for back up room, then go usb, it's cheaper. If you're looking for an addon, go firewire, it's faster. Keep in mind, however, that it is possible to upgrade your internal hard drive. while such a procdedure will void your warranty, it is ultimately worth it. you can then take the older hard drive out and put it in an usb or firewire enclosure.

I heartily recommend Pyro's 1394 enclosure kit for HD's. I bought a Pyro kit and a Maxtor 60 GB IDE from outpost.com a couple weeks ago and have it hooked up to my iMac DV SE (400). It works exactly as expected for the iMac as well as on my Pismo 500. It only takes a few minutes to mount the HD in the Pyro enclosure and you also get three Firewire ports on the back.

Shmerek,

Try http://www.macsolutions.com/

Under the USB section, an IDE to USB case is mentioned for $90 USD. BTW, I've ordered more than a gig of ram from them over the years and feel they are a top organization.
I am stupidest when I try to be funny.
