My blacbook is slated to arrive tommarow or tuesday (yay) and Im not sure If I should get applecare for it or not. Its an extra 200 or so, do you think its worth it? Im using it as a desktop replacement and will be using it practicly 24/7. I might even consider bringing it to school with me.

I have apple pro care and would recommend purchasing it, and take advantage of what it offers. (Genus bar)

Start saving your pennies now. AppleCare is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for laptops, because EVERYTHING in a laptop is more expensive to fix than in a desktop.

i DIDNT have applecare with my older powerbook (a pismo); cost me $450 to replace the logic board (year 2).

i DO have it now, with my 12" powerbook; had the harddrive replaced 2nd year, under warranty.

you DO have the first year to get it (the only diff getting it upfront is a full 3 years phone support, as opposed to 90 days, and THEN again when u do get applecare).

well worth it.

Remember most credit card companies extended coverage of the manufacturers warranty by up to an additional year. I know American Express does this and I've actually used the coverage twice successfully.

With the quality of Apple laptops comparatively lower than in the past, AppleCare is definitely a good choice.

For laptops I'd definitely get AppleCare. Just having the HD or Logicboard die on you and need repair, will pay for AppleCare.

My 'enter' key fell off and they said it would have cost me $85 dollars to replace. $85 dollars! It would take them a whole 5 minutes to replace and I'm sure that's where all the cost came from (labor costs).

They even said to me, "You're lucky you had Apple care."

Worth it? I'd say so

Thanks for the responces guys . I've decided that I should get applecare for my macbook and not risk having to pay a higher fee for something that may be covered by the warranty!
