I have an iBook rev1, 9.0.4, 96MB RAM, and a LaCie USB Hard Drive 10GB, and it runs fine with VM turned on. But if I turn off Virtual Memory, and I plug in the Hard Drive the finder crashes.....anyone have any input?

I have the same problem with my rev.A ibook macOS 9.0.4 and Lacie Pocketdrive USB. It just crashes the finder from time to time when going through folders. I never use vm so I don' t know if it's more stabel that way.

Have you guys installed Firm<Buttocks> 2.4 on your iBooks? It offers improved support for USB Hard Drives.
