Well, I was 100% satisfied with my Soundsticks until about 20 minutes ago. The bass completely dropped out! Well not completely - if I get under my desk and stick my head right next to the cone i han hear sound - but that's with the bass turned all the way up.

I was just sitting here listening to Driven To Tears by the Police and WHAM the bass left. Now I'm in tears.

Anyone had a similar issue or know of anything like this? Argh!

OK i figured it out. I slapped it around a bit and the bass came back. Must be some bad internal wiring.

My iSub has a problem, but it definately isn't bass. heck, I'd love to see a setup with the soundsticks, and the iSub added... that way you have a strong sub, a weak sub, and the best sound sticks around

isub is considered more powerful than the soundstick sub, probably because the drivers don't have to be powered, more power to the sub. And in OS X you can use an infinate amount of USB devices, so basically you can have 10 isubs, and 10 soundsticks with no problem

However, my sub makes a LOT of noise when it's doing nothing, like you can hear the transformer or something.. kinda like a buzz noise, but really quiet. The worst part is you can't leave it on because that noise gets a little annoying (if the computer is off, therefore I keep shutting out my computer's surge protector.. blech)

And obviously the G4 doesn't like the surge protector being off all the time because it has to 'warm up' which can take a whole minute or two (at the happy mac thing) before the OS does anything.

Weird it is, but I wish the isub had some kind of switch or something that would turn it off when the computer went off!!!!!
I have quit MacNN effective at 5:00:00 PM, January 25, 2001.

Goodbye. (nobody banned me)

The sub on my soundsticks doesn't make any sounds or hums.

And why would the power thing be a problem, as the system is externally powered?

Good luck
