ok so i post this here because it is about multi topic as you can get so i came to the lounge.so look here and look at the pro speaker port. it looks the same as the the ipod headphone jack. so what is up with that? can anyone add anything

You're right... It looks like has those same "conductors" or whatever you want to call them around the edge... I think that on the iPod they are used (or I should say "will" be used) for a wired-remote. I can't think of what Apple would be doing with this same kind of contact on the iMac. Could it be some kind of 5.1 "Apple Specific" connector? I wonder what Apple has up their sleeve???

that would be cool. i thought it might be to control the volume from within the ipod and not from a resistor on the cord type thing. but i will hope for what you said.
