Can't, it's a castrated version of the real thing.

Actually I just did it. All you have to do is copy the system folder to the CD and it works fine.

Sure did. I didn't think it would but it started up from CD with no problems. All I had to do is turn off some of my extensions.

tsheley,
Can you post more information about which extensions. I have the very same version of Toast and would like to make a bootable CD of my existing system folder.
I'd like to copy some apps to the CD-ROM too, scanner software, etc..
Thanks

Actually all I did was just copy my whole System Folder with all my extensions on an everything. I just wanted to see if it would work. And it worked!! I did get some things like Virex not loading but that is it.

I also was not able to make a bootable CD with Toast 4.0.1.1 – tried a lot of stuff, but did not have any success. Furthermore on QPS website they say that it is not possible to create a bootable CD with their USB drive (check it out: here at the bottom)
However, after updating to Toast 4.0.2 I decided to try it again - and I reread the Readme file, where it said that bootable CDs can be created by holding down the crtl-key while dropping a (blessed) system folder into the "files & folders" window (not the data window). I tried that, added some utilities and burned a CD-RW ... and it booted up my iBook! Cool.
Did all this with Toast 4.0.2, Que! USB 4x2x8x drive, Mac OS 9 on my iBook (1st gen.)...
Can you reproduce that? I am not sure if this is due to the 4.0.2 update or just to using the technique as described in the Readme. (Feels kinda dumb - I always read those when I install stuff, but sometimes one forgets. And the Toast doc was of no help at all.) Also, the people at QPS obviously do not seem to get the hang of their products...
btw. I have the OEM of Toast (got 4.0.1.1 together with the drive.)

I’ve burned a boot with toast 3.5.7 import a fresh system folder, or drop it on the desktop from the installation CD. Pull one off a Norton CD? I was told.
I keep my full hard drive on CD Bootable. I haven’t yet tried to do a SCSI copy, from rom to CDRW. No reason as of yet.
