I just picked up a free Dell 21 inch monitor (1626 HT) from work: they're replacing all CRTs with LCDs and offering the old monitor to whomever will cart them away. The only problem is in the thread title: there is serious ghosting with this sucker. The ghosting seems to get worse as the resolutions increase. If I run it at 800x600, it looks fine, but larger than that and problems happen. The 17inch Dell CRT I have been using shows no such problems. It's clear as a bell.

I'm running a G5 with the stock FX5200 and a brand new monitor cable I just bought from Best Buy. Is this a problem with the monitor, or is there some way to fix this and enjoy Free Monitor?

Have you turned down the intensity? Overly "bright" tracing can cause ghosting. And is there a degauss button on the monitor? That's the two most likely causes for ghosting from my experience. Obviously you're not talking about burn in, which is different. For the uninitiated, ghosting is when there's an altered version of an active image visible around that image, while burn in is a static image that doesn't have anything to do with the active image. I'd love to not know anything about burn in...

I've played with the color settings, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. And it is ghosting, not burn in. I've degaussed as well.
