Can anyone recommend a good buy in Digital camcorders that I can send home movies to an iMac DV, edit and send back to the camcorder via firewire port?

I have a JVC DVM1 that works perfectly with iMovie and Final Cut Pro.

For a while I thought I couldn't record from the computer back to tape, but realized that they wanted me to hit the start/stop button to start recording...

I have a Canon Ultura. It cost me $850 & it's excellent. Easy to use, lightweight, hundreds of features. Still quality in photo mode is maybe a bit fuzzy but with iMovie you can shoot video & export a still of much higher quality. iMovie works great with this camera full control over the camera is excellent and my wife & I are having tons of fun with it making movies of our newborn to send home to family.

Panasonic's PV-DV900 or DV910 work very nicely with the iMac DV. They were demonstrated with the iMac DV during Demo Days at the local Sears store. These two particular cameras are being discontinued, though. I'm not sure what the replacement for them is.

Sears is closing them out for $700. They have a 10% off sale going on now through Saturday (March 25) which would bring the price down to $630 or therabouts. It's a whale of a deal at that price.
