I did some search but i didn't find in the forum.
I will start to do some presentations with my ibook and my question is:
1) do i have to turn the computer off to hook the projector?
2) the mini VGA cable that came with the ibook is all i need?
thanks!
edit:
do i have to change the screen resolution? i think the projector is 800x600

1) No, "detect display" should do it!
2) Yes, that should work (depends on your projector)
2b) since the iBook only supports mirroring, changing the resolution to the native projector res should give you the best picture - you could also install the screen spanning doctor and use two different resolutions!

So i don't need to turn it off. It will not damage anything right?

Do you know what happens if i don't change the native screen resolution?
thanks!!

Most projectors can mimic higher resolutions, by scaling your high res picture down to their native res (for one or two res's higher). Otherwise, you will see an 800x600 picture in the middle of your ibook's screen, surrounded by a large black border. In other words, no problem.

After years of pain, playing with resolution, trying different things to get windows machines to recognise projectors, I was overjoyed by the fact that when you plug a mac in, it 'just works'. You don't have to putz around. Honestly. Everyone I work with is amazed.

thanks,
I hooked my CRT monitor and worked perfectly, my only question is if it will be a problem if the profector has the maximum resolution of 800x600.

No, it might change the resolution of your main screen, but it will work well.

thanks guys for the support.
When I hooked the monitor it just worked!! The projector supported resolutions higher than 800 x 600, so worked just fine. Didn't have do to a thing!!!
OS X rocks!!!

One thing I would STRONGLY recommend is Screen Spanning Doctor. I used this on my 1.33GHz iBook G4, and it was amazing. It allows you to span your screen and have true dual displays, not just mirrored. When using that with Keynote, it allows you to have a timer and preview slides on your display while the presentation in on the projector. It allows you to use a larger external monitor for things like web browsing while things like IM and email can stay on the smaller screen. I've found it extremely useful. Your built in graphics card supports this by default, but Apple disabled it in hope of more people switching to the PowerBook for that feature.
