Warning this is a bit of a rant!
Well as reported on the main macnn page on tuesday logitech mouseware 3.51 is out. Should you bother? I say nay! The readme finally says that scrolling in sherlock doenst work. Well it deeper than that, and logitech wont tell you what it is. The scrolling problem not only effects sherlock, but also appleworks and a few other things. Whats the common thread? Carbonlib. How did I discover this? Well after beta testing a soon to be released app and having problems with my usb mouse and it i repted detailed problems to the SW company responsible for the beta. After switching to usb overdrive since mouseware was totally useless (actually crashed the program). I called in to report teh wqork around ans was told that the issue with logitech is the carbonlib and that they are "aware" of it. Horse hockey i say! when i first reporte this problem with apple works more than 6 months ago i got the mindless canned response from 'L', they just dont care. I had to really blast them in their tech feedback email much later on to get anything resembling like a reponse like they care. Be forewarned ppl that a non recognized bug is never fixed. And since more and more aps will be carbonized (inclusing the finder soon) you may be SOL with the 'L' software. Use usb overdrive instead and pay the man for a job well done.

Yeah, I'd love to use USB Overdrive, but I need a new version of Game sprockets, but the page is down. I reinstalled the 3.1.2 now I get the MouseWorks is off warning. This sucks. The mouse works fine in Linux. Glad I still have my ADB TurboMouse.

USB Overdrive is cool. I give it a 4 out of 5 'cuz of 1 bug and 1 design flaw.
The bug being I have my Gravis pad controller connected to the Keyboard, and the first time that I move the mouse pointer using the gravispad after restart, the pointer will drift toward the opposite direction. (Once horizontal + Once vertical, OR once diagonal) That can be solved by moving the pad toward the opposite direction of the drifting arrow. It's not the biggest deal, but can be annoying at times when I accidently activate the Gravis Pad...
The design flaw is that key mapping is mapped to key-strokes instead of key characters. By that I mean when I switch from QWERTY to Dvorak, cmd-w becomes cmd-, and I'll have to reset the perference for things to work right...I've emailed the author 'bout it, he acknowledged the problem and said there might be fixes in the future.

G4/450, T-bird 1.05GHz, iBook 500, iBook 233...4 different machines, 4 different OSes...(9, 2k, X.1, YDL2.2 respectively) PiA to maintain...
