Hi there. I am in the market for a 19 inch monitor to go with my new G4. I do freelance design work (mostly print) so I need something with good color accuracy. Unfortunately, since this is for my home office, price is an important factor (would like to keep it around $500 if possible). I've heard good things about Mitsubishi and Sony. I'm also wondering about Viewsonic.

Any opinions you can offer would be wonderful. I've actually never purchased a monitor for myself before and I'm completely lost on this. Thanks in advance!

Huff, tuff question, its mostly in the Eye, preferences you know. But I’ll take a crack at it. I run two viewsonics, had one for two years the second, is an upgrade from a smaller 15”. I, like you was looking for the most for the least (which doesn’t often workout) but in this case its been a good choice. The flat screen Pro version, PF790 is about $475. I like it. I also like The PS version, but only these, not the graphic motel or any of the others. I’ve compared mine to the hitachi, apple, mitsu and Lacie. they stand up.

Another that I liked was the Philiphs, but I only got to use the 21”

Viewsonics warranty is a 48 hour in your house with a replacement monitor, either for swap out or to use while yours, is being repaired. You Call they ship.

If you can buy one locally it might be cheaper, shipping is at least $30.00

friend o' mine was just shopping monitors the other day, he's got the new high-end G4 and is all on for DV NLE and swore the best deal was the 880 (? not sure of model#) Viewsonic, he loved the huge refresh rate...
