Hello all!

I have a nearly brand new HP LaserJet 2200. It has postscript built in, as well as PCL. I've got it plugged into my Asante Friendlynet router with the built in print server. I'm using an iBook with OS 9.0.4 and print using the Desktop Printer function, laserwriter 8 driver and 'LPR' as the Asante documents instruct. I have verified this setup works when using an old NEC silentwriter which is almost dead.

My problem is, I can print to the printer using a windows laptop using the supplied LJ2200 postscript driver and it works perfectly. But when I print from my iBook using HP's supplied printer description file (or the generic one, or any other one) all I get are page after page of the Postscript language. In other words, the printer refuses to interpret postscript from the Mac, but does it perfectly from Windows.

Has anyone encountered similar problems? Is HP just a bad choice for Mac users? Any suggestions?

I've sent them an email tech support request, but haven't heard anything from them.

Thanks!

-Stephanie
