I want to install a webcam on my roof ( nice view) but the distance to my workstation is not really close. About 15 meters.
What is the maximum lenght for an USB or aFirewire cable?
If 15 meters is too much, how can i bridge this distance?

Can somebody advise me on what webcam to get? Are there webcams out that are wheatherproof or should I build a case myself?

I haven't used one myself, so buyer beware, but it looks like it will do the job.
I played with one of those x-10 wireless cameras (the ones that are now in pop-under ads EVERYWHERE) as a webcam for a while, hooked to the composite video in on my 7500. It was almost acceptable, but the video quality was quite low. Nonetheless, it was amusing..... point is, this also allows the camera to be situitated away from the computer, but at crummy analog quality.
