After upgrading to OS 9.0.4 my CD burner no longer reads or mounts CDs, and it will only work with drive set up 1.8, not the new version. I use Toast 3.5.7 and evrything was fine until I loaded OS 9 & the upgrade. ???
It sems to write OK, but fails when trying to verify newly burned discs.
Are these Toast, SCSI or Yamaha problems?

I don't have your exact problem, as I have a different burner (8424) and different OS (8.6), but I think I can safely say that the problem is definately Toast. Get the update to Toast 4 ASAP, from adaptec.com. That should help.
