Just trying to get a feel for people's experience with their RAM. I've been comparin crucial.com and owc and am leaning towards owc. $74 for 512MB of RAM is unreal. What have people's experiences been with both companies (including the debacle that was the firmware patch from Apple).

Thank for the feedback in advance

Myself and 3 friends just ordered 4 256MB PC100 DIMMs from them and got them yesterday. So far so good. Works just fine, delivery was very quick, and their communication via e-mail regarding my order was informative and also very quick. I'm convinced they are worth it.

Edit: It's implied, but just in case, I am talking about OWC.

I've ordered close to 3 gigs of memory from OWC. My experiences have always been excellent! I'm writing this on my Powerbook G3 which has 1 gig of ram on it, all from OWC. I've never had the slightest problem. I've purchased Crucial memory as well and have similar good things to say about them. I just got tired of their prices.

yeah, they've treated me quite well....much better than Mammary To Go or any of those others...those people are idiots.

I've got a Gig of OWC RAM in this particular Powerbook at the moment...i'd buy more if i could stuff it in there!

I've bought memory and other stuff from OWC for my Macs over the years and not only do they have great prices, no one can match their customer service. I'll be buying from them again soon for those 512MB DIMMs as well.

I've bought various hard drives and memory from OWC over the past 4 years and I've always been fully satisfied. Quick shipment and easy ordering.

We have sold to them (OWC) for years and they have always been extremely professional-they run a good organization.

My two cents:

Buying from abroad, tracking your order becomes critical, and I must say that OWC are doing a great job in this point.

About their memory products, as there's been said, it works fine; but ¿don't you observe a crucial cut on battery life? (I've loaded 256Mb PC100 SO-DIMM on my Pismo).

I've ordered RAM from Crucial, Memory To Go, and OWC. I'd say I've had the best results with OWC. Crucial was great, but they charge an unreal amount for 512 MB chips right now. Memory To Go is run by a bus load of monkeys, and they get annoyed when you ask them any detailed questions about their RAM. I actually with they would just die.

.....Memory To Go is run by a bus load of monkeys.....I actually wish they would just die.

that is actually one of the funniest things I've seen today. they ARE jackasses, tho. they bug me. Mammary To Go was more concerned with not crediting me 10 dollars for shipping on a mis-shipped order then they were with losing the subsequent 4000 dollar order i was about to place. instead that money went to OWC.

i hate them.

OWC rocks! I very recently bought 1 256Mb stick (PC100) and 1 128Mb stick (FPM) from them with no trouble, fast shipping and great prices...I'd definately buy from them again.

I've been lucky enough to never have had a bad experience with a memory vendor. I ordered 128M for my G3/233 from OWC about 4 years ago and it's worked great. I ordered 256M for my DP G4/500 from memorytogo last year and it's worked great. I ordered 128M for my girlfriend's cube from Crucial last month and it's had no problems. All the companies had good ship times and the product has always been quality. Now when I say it's "worked great", that basically means it hasn't failed on me, which is good. I'm about to order 512M for my G4 to bring it up to a gig and I'll probably do that from OWC since their 512M sticks are insanely cheap.

But I have to say, picturing a bus load of monkies selling ram online is quite comical.

Damn the price at OWC just gets better and better. Not sure how long I can hold out here, but it's dropped from $75 last week for a 512MB 133 3-2-2 to $70... This kicks ass

Wonder how much it will be by the time I get around to ordering it. No need to rush, what with estimated shipping time being 5-7 weeks at Apple. Have to save some money somewhere

I've been using 3 256MB PC100 sticks of RAM for 4 months from OWC without a hitch. Go for it.
