Just got an HP LP2465 Flatscreen. Two annoying things, which I suspect have to do with my video card (the ATI RAEDON that came with my G4 DP450 back in 2000):
1. All screensavers run painfully slow
2. When I view fullscreen videos in WMP or slideshows in (grr) iPhoto, it resets the resolution which moves all my palettes in Abobe CS.
So I'm looking for a new PCI video card. Perhaps something from NVIDIA. Not top of the line, but decent enough to handle this 1900x1200 monitor. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know. Thanks.

Why do you want PCI instead of AGP?

Mac update estimates: MacBook Pro 1Q10 (quad core Nehalem [Clarksfield]); MacBook 1Q10 (Arrandale); MacBook Air 1Q10 (Arrandale LV); Mac Pro/Xserve 1Q10 (6 core Westmere, 64+GB RAM); iMac 3Q10 (quad core everywhere); Mac mini 2010

Well, I've been told that it may cost me upwards of $300 to find a decent AGP card that will run on a Mac. I figured PCI would give me more options. I was hoping to spend around $100, $150.

The PowerMac G4 450 DP (Gigabit Ethernet) offers a 2X AGP slot and 3 64bit 33Mhz PCI slots.
I have a Apple/ATI Radeon 9000 Pro - 64MB, 4X AGP card pulled from the MDD G4.
ATI(AMD) offers Radeon 9200 PCI Mac Edition as well.

Even though it is crap by todays standards, the Radeon 9200 is the best PCI video card out there for macs, way better than the 7000. I had both in my B&W and the 9200 beat the 7000 hands down in every way possible
But you really need a Radeon 8500 or 9800 for a Sawtooth (AGP), the 8500's usually go for around $45-70, and the 9800 around $85-125........
