I'd like a USB 2 hub but I've heard that some slow down all the ports on them if you plug even a single USB 1.1 device into them. How do I tell if a hub is a proper one that offers the correct speed to each port, can any of you recommend one?

Thanks in advance!

If you plug a USB 2 hub into a computer with 2.0 ports and use 2.0 devices, you will get 2.0 speeds. If you connect & use a 1.1 device, it will get 1.1 speeds.

However, if you are using both 2.0 & 1.1 devices simultaneously, the speed of all ports will be reduced to 1.1....

And yes, Belkin does make excellent and affordable hubs. I'm using 2 of them as well as one of their pci cards right now and have never had any problem whatsoever with any of them. But nowadays, just about any brand will do, since they are essentially identical inside.

Just be certain to get one with it's own power supply/AC Adapter. Bus powered hubs suk
