OK. My wife and I took the plunge.
We just ordered our 867 G4 tower.
...and it should arrive just in time for...the middle of september.
Well, since we have so much time on our hands before our baby's in our crib, what do yall think is the best mid-range 19" monitor for the money. We want to stay under $400 (if possible), hopefully around $360-$380. I've seen a few in that range, like the NEC 950+, but know nothing about it. Neither of us are graphic designers, but we want a nice picture. I play some games, but not religiously (we got the MX card, but I'll probably upgrade to the GeForce3 after Xmas, when it's cheaper and more games support it). And we'll be editing movies and burning DVDs quite often.
We were going to get a 17", but decided that the QuickSilver deserved better. But money is still an object. (Otherwise we would have gotten rid of the cat, and just cuddled up with a Cinema Display.)
Also, while I'm on the subject of indebting our grandchildren, we'll also need to buy some speakers. (I'd like a subwoofer set-up.) And last but not least, we'll need a 10/100 DSL switch to hook up our iMac, G4, laser printer, and DSL line. I've heard that some are decent, while others are buggy. (But that was a while ago--are they all pretty stable now?)
In all, I've done little or no research into any of these three things. I'm hoping yall can point me in the right direction.

I have an Iiyama Vision Master Pro 450, now one year old. It is 19", diamondtron (=trinitron). I don't know the prices in the US, but this monitor is super. It is quite cheap for its specs, and excellent quality. Three years of onsite support is another plus. It's a lot cheaper than Sony or Apple, but it has one minus: the looks. It's plain old pc-beige. Then the Lacie is maybe a better option (or Dell?), I've seen one in black, which looks a lot better. Btw, this monitor weighs 30kg, which is another indication of the quality. And the screen is coated. What I paid? About euro 630, which is about $580, but the prices here are a lot higher than in the US, so don't complain.

I would check out the ViewSonic PF790.
It uses the diamondtron technology and it's perfectly flat...
You can snag it for $342 at www.jazztechnology.com.
