I'm looking at upgrading the GeForce FX5200 that came stock in my Dual 2gig G5. What is my best option for improved gaming performance? I know I'm somewhat limited as far as CPU power for some of the newer games coming out but I'm looking for as much improvement as I can get for games like COD and Civ IV.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

6800U or X850XT
Both are obscenely expensive compared to their PC counterparts, but I digress.

Mac update estimates: MacBook Pro 1Q10 (quad core Nehalem [Clarksfield]); MacBook 1Q10 (Arrandale); MacBook Air 1Q10 (Arrandale LV); Mac Pro/Xserve 1Q10 (6 core Westmere, 64+GB RAM); iMac 3Q10 (quad core everywhere); Mac mini 2010

After a little digging, the X850XT looks like it may be what i'm looking for. Any tips on a good place to buy them online, though? I'm having a heckuva time finding them for sale - somewhere that sells in canadian dollars would be ideal.

You'll find a Radeon X800XT Mac Edition much quicker as it's a retail card, the Radeon X850XT was an OEM card (sold only by Apple in BTO PM G5s). You can find the Radeon X800XT Mac Edition at Compusmart. I think that's where I found mine. It's also available at CDW.ca Homepage but I think it was more expensive there.
edit: hmmm... I can't find the Radeon X800XT Mac Edition at Compusmart's site.

Yes, it is Search Results
It's just damn expensive there. $524 CDN is outrageous. You should be able to find it in the low $400s or high $300s CDN. Not sure what that card for $374 is on CDW's site is as the part # doesn't match anything on ATI's site.
Cendirect has it listed http://www.cendirect.com/main_en/tec..._JO21720G.html but it is out of stock and Cendirect is bad in customer service and even worse for out of stock items.

cool, thanks for the link. Dunno why the search i did the other day didn't turn it up but then it wouldn't be the first time i spelled something wrong - lol. The price, though, is crazy like you said. I'll just have to keep my eyes open. Either that or I'll just forget about the mac games and buy a PS3, which is what the kid in me really wants to do anyway, hah.
