A friend of mine loves the big cinema display,and he was wondering if it would work with a PC?
(Of course I told him to buy a Mac,but consider this as a first step in the right direction for him )

i'm not sure it'll work.
your friend will HAVE to get an ADC to DVI adapter at the very least. Oh yeah and s/he will have to have a grafics card with a DVI out port (i almost forgot that part, duh).
After that it really is a matter of whether windows will know what to do with the monitor. i assume it will work.

Do you have to update windows software when you install a new monitor??? The fact that i'm unsure of this makes windows all the more idiotic. =)

Yes, it can. Originally some folks had the older DVI versions running off ATI DVI output cards and custom power supply setups. Definitely not the recommended method. Just get a drbotts DVIator and hook it up to any DVI equipped card.
