I have scanned and downsized some photos to wallet size, but I'd like to collage them and be able to print them using one sheet of paper rather than wasting an entire page of expensive photo paper on one small wallet photo. Anyone know how to do this? Is there an option in Photoshop?

With Photoshop 5.5 this task is fully automated.
Simply call up the image you want to use, go to >File >Automate> >Picture package, then select the layout you want to use, whether it be four or five or six to a page, there are several options to choose from.

If you have trouble with that, or have an older version of PhotoShop that doesn't support that feature, you can just create a new document at 8.5 x 11. Take the picture and copy and paste it to the new document as many times as it will fit, then print that. Remember to take your printers minimum print margins into account while setting up that page. I've done this before and have gotten 9 wallets on a page. Also, I always have my dpi at 300 or more for photo printing. Anything less looks grainy.

it should be (actually it is) just the same thing as if you were pasting the same picture over and over, you just have to do each one individually. but...a better option would be to save them as .eps files and import (place) them all into illustrator. That way, if you set up your page setup options beforehand, you can see where your margins are and everything and be sure not to waste paper or cut anything off. whatever you do, print the whole page on regular paper first, just to make sure it works and fits and all.

I have done different pictures on one page many times. You just copy and paste each one. I have a 8.5x11 template I use. I make guidlines in PhotoShop for my page margins so I know I don't go larger than my printer can handle. It's really easy to do.

Paul S has a good idea "Make templates". They always seem to come in handy.
Here's my suggestion: In Photoshop.
-Open a new document 8.5x11.
-(Command + R) to show rulers.
-Click inside the ruler and drag out guides.(use move tool)
-Make a grid with blue guide lines.
-Place pictues into position.
-(Command + ' ) will show and hide guides.

You may want to try messing around with File->Automate-> Contact sheet. This may degrade the quality but is an excellent feature in Photoshop.

I always place 'em in Illustrator. You end up with a much smaller file than you do in Photoshop, plus they're so easy to resize, rotate, move around, etc. till you get your layout right. You don't have to deal with switching layers to move different pictures- in Photoshop you get a different layer every time you copy and paste, and manipulating each picture will take more work. Plus, Illus. gives you a visual page with a pasteboard bacground, so you can see your paper edges, and printer margins.

I've inserted wallets into pages in everything from MacWrite II to QuarkXpress 4.x. The latter was the easiest, of course. *whisper* I don't have Photo Shop.

You'll find that Pagemaker 6.5 is fantastic for printing photos of any size you like. I published an entire church picture directory with it, a digital camera and Photoshop LE (for sizing).
