I'm looking for an inexpensive way to view my powerbook G4 screen on a tv. Ideally I'd like something small that doesn't require external power. Also, I'd like it to be able to play dvd movies which may be a problem with pc card or usb/firewire solutions. Any ideas?

I oown a Pismo, and you can put the S-Video output into a TV. YOu get horrible resolution, though - you can't possibly read text on a TV screen. For watching DVDs, sure, you could do it. Bt spend $200 and get a dedicated DVD player instead - Powerbook playback of movies is noticably jaggy and stoppgapped. This may not be true anymore, but it was true on my Pismo 500.

Never used it myself, but found this on Google. Sounds like it'll do what you want it to do...

Didn't you get the s-video adaptor with your g4? Get a s-video cable, a phono to jack cable, and preferably a scart adapter to plug them all in your TV. Works great for DVD

Costs almost nothing, and don't require extra hardware.
