I was given a Dell 720 printer. But my iMac does not recognize it. I've been searching for an answer and everything I read says it's not possible. Is this really the case - before I give it away to someone else...?

It doesn't work. Donate the printer or even better, recycle it.

Dell's been doing some pretty stupid stuff with some of their branded peripherals, particularly their printers. They have a wireless print server too-that ONLY works with Dell printers. Not even the Lexmark branded identical printer either-only the one that says Dell. Dumb, Mike, very dumb.
