I was having a problem with my 740i suddenly (best explained by just refering to it as a head banging printer.) Took it into the shop to be repaired...of course it worked fine there. (Plus they added that they usually just send such items into Epson, who charge at least $60 CAN to just look at the thing.)

Anyway...about the time that the problem (as expected) came back, I was able to buy a new 740i for a mere $80 CAN. So I took it in, had them listen to the problem, and said if they could fix it, fine...if not, don't send it in 'cuz I got a new one for the same price it would cost to repair.

Anyway (again). AS expected, the printer worked fine the next day in the shop, but at least they knew I wasn't crazy. So they did what they could (for free). Now I've two printers - one that may or may not break down intermitently, and a new one. Both have brand new cartridges in them.

I know I'm gonna have to put one into storage, but I don't wanna just let the cartridges dry up. Should I use up the ink in one entirely, remove the cartidges and store it, or...what?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We have an Epson 850 and notice that the print heads or cartridges tend to get a little clogged (with dry ink I presume...?) if they're not used for a while. Though you're not supposed to remove the cartridges and put them back in, we do this and then use the cleaning function 4-5 times to get the ink ready to go again. YOu could take the cartridges out of the one you're going to store and use them in the other one. When you put them into the other machine, just make sure you clean them several times and then they should work fine, if it works like our Epson 850.

Hope that helps...

I have had the same problem, love the printer. Where did you find the 740, I don't see them around anymore.
Thanks in advance.

Ya...I love them too, and hadn't seen them around for awhile. Suddenly, there they were on sale at Micowarehouse.com

Don't know if the sale is still on, or if they have any left. It was a couple of weeks ago.
