I recently got a digital camera and have been doing some video editing but i need more hard disk space for my movies, I was looking for an internal HD, what should I get, and do I need any softeware or other hardware to go with it?

Depends on what you want to spend. I would aim for a 40-60 GB 7200 RPM drive ($150-250). Good choices are the Maxtor 60 series, the IBM 60GXP series, the Quantum Fireball AS series, the Western Digital Caviars. Can't really go wrong with any of them. Check www.storagereview.com, www.tomshardware.com, www.pcmagazine.com, www.pcworld.com for recent reviews.
If you have an iMac or Cube, all you usually need to do is install the new drive, boot up from your Apple software install CD, and initialize the new drive using Apple Drive Setup. Then restart and you should be ready to go. If you have a tower and will be using more than one internal hard drive, someone else here can explain how to set up master/slave drives. Or do a search - it's been covered. Good luck.

the most important factors are speed and storage - so ideally get the biggest 10,000 RPM HDD you can afford, otherwise a 7200RPM drive such as IBM DeskStar range is highly recommended.

If you can tell us what machine you have, you will get some very specific recommendations. That might help.

The G4 tower will support 2 internal ATA drives without any additional hardware required. I suggest an IBM Deskstar drive. They are the fastest and most reliable drives on the market. I just got their 75GB drive for under $300 delivered for my tower.
