Hi,

Due to having put a new HD in my external HD enclosure, I now have to give it a good old format.

Now... do I pick Mac OS X Extended or Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) as the Volume Format?

What is the difference between the two and does the same also apply to extra internal HD's as well?

Any help or advice that you can offer me will be most gratefully received.

Many thanks in advance,

Matthew

journaling helps in recovering from file system corruption in the event of a crash. Personally I don't see a need to journal a non-boot drive.

If you're going to use the drive as a boot drive or a backup boot drive, you need to use journaling.
