I just wanted to post a big endorsement of Transintl.com and its response to the firmware fiasco. I emailed them the weekend it happened, got several phone calls to update me on their work on the problem over the course of the next few days. When it became evident that there wasn't going to be a fix from Apple (actually, before this), they told me to send the 256MB RAM in. They called twice, once to find my tracking number so they could know when to expect it, and once to tell me when they received it. Then they sent it international priority FedEx and it got to me in the next few days. They exchanged my high-profile chip with a low-profile chip, and handled the customs issues just right so I didn't have to pay a thing. Excellent service. Would definitely recommend.

I would like to endorse www.datamem.com . They put an immediate link on their homepage in response to the firmware update saying that they would replace any ram that wasn't up to spec. Having ordered from them several times before I ordered a 256MB DIMM for my G4/466 and it works great.
