Anyone? I'm selling my original powerbook IDE drive to a PC user.
Naturally I don't expect the buyer to have any software that
could recognize and reformat my HFS+ drive. I've been knocking
my head against the wall trying to figure out how to convert to
the PC format. Drive Setup has the Pro-DOS option but it's grayed
out whether the drive is in a pc card enclosure or inside the
powerbook!?! What do I have to do to get that option available?¿?

Well I don't know much that can help you but I can say that ProDOS will not since that is an Apple II technology. (I think, I could be wrong.) But I bet the computer will at least recognize the drive is there without a format? But I could be wrong.

Good Luck,
Nick

cbr is correct. The PC will see the drive but since it is not formatted will be unable to read it. If they go into Fdisk they can format the drive and make it readable in Windows. I did this when I sold my original 10gb 5400rpm drive that came with my G4 to a friend of mine to put in his PC.
Regards,
Dave
