Hi all,
my ol' printer recently ran out of color inks... i've replaced them w/ epson ink cartriges, but now when i try to print something, it goes thru the usual song and dance but nothing actually prints out... absolutely blank... i've run the epson utility, cleaned the print heads etc... even tried printing in black and still get blank pages..
what gives?
thx in advance

To put it bluntly: Epson ink-jets suck for home use. They cannot handle any amount of downtime without the heads clogging beyond repair.

The solution? Replace it with a new Canon (my choice) or HP inkjet, depending on what your needs are. There are even cheap color lasers now, and tons of cheap B&W laser options.

thanks tooki..
not exactly what i was i hoping to hear, but kinda what i expected... i've actually been eyeballing a couple of canon printers out there... otherwise, should i just chuck/donate this existing printer, or is it worthwhile to send it in for repairs and keep it for mundane print jobs?
thx again...

No, no home-office level printers are worth repairing. The costs to have it examined exceed the cost of a brand-new printer.

If you're looking another all-purpose inkjet, by the way, take a look at the Canon iP4300. It's FAST, prints great, does double-sided, has two paper feeds, and uses the (comparatively) inexpensive Canon ink. I'd buy one myself, if only my iP3000 that I got for free didn't already meet my needs.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Canon Pixma ip4300, I LOVE it and am VERY happy that I replaced my Epson R200 with this MUCH faster printer, it rocks!!!

Well I just got a used EPSON stylus c86 and it had the same problem you have.

DO this,
There is a drainage hose connected to the sponge, which the cartages sit over
Look in your manual to find the end.
Get a syringe with a needle and put it in the end of the hose and blow into it
This is why its not printing the sponge is clogged
Then try to clean the printer heads and if it gives you an error then push the cartages all the way to the side they sit on you may need to slam it.
Then just keep cleaning the printer heads until they are good.

tooki= EPSONs are probly the best printers ever
