I just got my free printer today(still waiting for the 800DP...) and one of the hinges of the paper feeder tray is broken, and the printer rattles. So.... I'm wondering whether this printer is worth holding onto/sending back to Apple/whatever. I have an Epson Stylus 800 now. I can't really complain considering that the Lexmark is free. The box it came in looks as if Fedex dragged the thing to my house. If my computer shows up like that I'm gonna be pissed.

Well, I've got the Z32 for my system too, but it's sitting in its box unopened awaiting the QS 867 that should be arriving within a week..

If it came out of the box with problems, you could either take it up with Apple ("It got here broken!") or Lexmark ("I'm taking you up on your warranty!). Since it was free and you've got your Epson, might be too much hassle, I suppose that's up to you to decide.

I also am waiting for my dual 800 to show and I also have an Epson SC800. I nstead of buying a serial interface for my new computer, I am planning on getting an HP G85/55 all-in-one. Therefore, I am probably going to sell my free Lexmark, which is unopened.

However, I would be curious to know just how good this printer is. What I've read (in 8/01 MacWorld, for instance) is that it's great for text, not too good for graphics. If that's really the case, I figure I'll set it for $35 and call it a discount...

Anybody have any experience with their freebie yet?
Brian
