Hi,

I wanted to get some opinions on comparing a firewire drive to an ide-based drive. How do they compare in speed? I'm assuming an IDE will be faster, but I could be wrong.

thanks for your input

IDE is faster, but the difference is getting smaller. The fastest IDE drives will sustain around 34MB/s. Most FW drives are 12MB/s, but a new controller chip is making new drives reach 24MB/s sustained.
