After 10+ years of not playing games, I'm actually thinking about picking up a Nintendo Wii.

Problem is that I don't have a TV (don't plan on getting one) and would like to use my cinema display as the screen.

El Gato makes the TV Hybrid that has S-Video input.

The Wii can support 480p using component cables .... is there a device that can input the component signal into the Mac and display the information in real time? [to play a game on screen]

any help would be great

I'm assuming the S-Video coming into the 30", and then stretched near full-screen will look pretty bad .... :X

Wii is only 480p? It would work I guess. The information that you see on your screen is always slightly delayed, but S-Video and EyeTV Hybrid is the fastest way to go.

I'm trying to figure out how to do the same. Currently, I have a 23" ACD and a 20" Standard Def TV (go figure).

This holiday season I've been considering getting a larger, LCD TV to play my XBOX 360 and watch HDTV on but if there's a way to interface with my Cinema, I'll just do that! Perhaps I'll take that money I planned to spend on a TV and upgrade to the 30" Cinema =)

Might be a good idea to protect your screen. I'd hate to sling the wii controller into my 30 incher.

Using S-Video I think the max signal will be 480i, I wonder how that will look using the EyeTV software? How well it deinterlaces the signal, etc.

Does anyone have experience with the S-Video input of the EyeTV Hybrid with a source like a DVD?

Does it look like ass?

Yes, confirmed, the Dell 30" has only one DVI input; nothing else except USB and power. Dell has announced a newer version of the 30", due out before the end of the year, to be sold in addition to the one that's currently available. I don't know about inputs on it.

It depends on the software from El Gato.

I have an AlchemyTV PCI card, but the software only supports up-to 640x480 pixels. I did try to play Xbox 360 on that thing tho.
