I just purchased a G3 400 Powerbook. Are there any external speakers that are best for this model? What kind should I buy on a "modest" budget?
It's not getting what you want, it's wanting what you've got.

Don't know anything about the speakers, but igo.com has some sweet looking sony ones in their clearance section, regularly $90, on sale for $29.99, item #45210

3 piece, not really portable, Boston Acoustics BA635. Awesome, and inexpensive.

ever scine I heard my cambridge soundworks digital 3 piece speakers I have never looked at a nother brand of speakers. they are by far the most well rounded and perfectly matched satilite and subwoofer around. the bass is comparable to my stereo with a 50 watt powered sub. I highly recomand them and they come in cool black as well. check it out cambridge has many stores in many malls, or if not one near you then go to
hifi.com

I second the BA635... actually get the Klipsch Promedias if you can, though that "modest budget" may break at $200 for the 2.1 model (though this is someone who is purchasing an $800 audio system for his computer)...

ummm, I highly recommend the Monsoon MH-500 for "modest budget"...
heck, I just ordered the MM-2000 for myself with a slight above-modest budget...
These Monsoons have the perfect matching dark color with your PBG3, unlike
some of the other ugly beige speakers...

What I use are Sony SRS-Z1000's, only problem is that you need to plug them into the wall so that they can work still good though

another good set is the Harmon/Kardon Soundsticks and iSub... I have them for my other Mac, and they work fine
