Hello,
I have an Epson C80 printer running in OS X and Classic mode. I am running 10.1.3. I am having repeated problems with connection lost for my printer.
I did not have this problem when running in 9.2.1, 9.1.X, or 9.04.
I have updated with the latest driver from Epson.
Any ideas on how to resolve this nagging problem?
System info:
iMac DV/SE 400 Mhz
Power PC G3
256 MB RAM
OS 10.1.3
Thanks.

This is driving me nuts as well. Whenever I print, it's the same thing. Hit print button, wait for Error dialog. Open print center, stop que, and retry. Always prints on the second try. This is a serious pain in the @ss. No idea of any solution, yet, but I'm looking around, and I'll keep an eye out here.

This might be good news-- I downloaded the driver off Epson's download page and re-ran the installer over top of the installation from the CD that came with the printer. It's listed as version 1.1aS and although it only shows up as 1.10 after the update, and has the same modification date, it seems to have upgraded something. Is this the upgrade you're referring to?
It printed on the first try, and I don't get the initiall communication error in the Printer Utilites any more, either.
Haven't tried it in Classic, yet, but it seems to have fixed my OS X problem.

So... I went back and ...
1) removed all Epson C80 related files/drivers
2) installed from original CD on Classic; rebooted
3) installed OS X version that was on the CD; rebooted
4) downloaded and installed epson's latest driver; rebooted
5) printed without bringing up Classic; Success
6) brought up outlook express in classic and printed an email: Success
7) started iPhoto ad attempted to print; FAILURE
8) stopped and started queue;
9) Printed again from iPhoto; Success
The bottom line... i am still experiencing printing problems with the Epson C80 drivers for OS X.

It seems that the problem with printing on the Epson C80 printer manifests itself when Classic mode has been enabled and is running. So, when you print from an OS X native application when classic is running in the background, the print problems occur.
I have read several places on the internet where this problem has been known about for at least three months. The C80 is a highly ranked printer in its price class. Why is Epson so slow to fix this problem? I'm planning on calling Epson Monday morning. Does anyone know of an email where i can send info to Epson about this issue?

I've had the problem happen whenever I turn off the printer. The first time I turn it on and try to print it takes two tries to work. So I just leave the printer on all the time and it works fine, whether in Classic or OSX.
