Has anyone ever tried hooking a usb/firewire hard drive to their usb imac and then connecting the digital video camera directly into the drive via firewire?
Would DV be possible this way?

That won't work. I have a combo drive like that and had it hooked USB to my PowerBook and tried hooking it FW to my G4. It seems that as soon as you plug in one of the connections, the other is disabled.

Also, USB wouldn't support DV anyway. Digital video requires a much faster transfer rate than USB is capable of.
