I noticed that http://eshop.macsales.com/ has PC133 512MB for about $180 from "OWC". But other manufacturer prices are $350 or thereabouts. OWC claimes fully capatable with G4DP533 and lifetime warranty.
Does anyone know why OWC price is so much better than others? Is there a compatability issue with other SDRAM aleady in other slots?
Thanks in advance

Hi MCF. I've purchased a single 256mb chip and two 512mb chips from OWC for my Mac laptops (Pismo and iBook) with great success. I've also purchased a couple of PC100 168 pin chips for Mac desktops as well. I've been very satisfyied with the quality and compatibility. I'm currently writing this to you on a Pismo that has one of their 512 chips plus the OEM 128mb chip from Samsung. No problemo there, either.

Have you applied the infamous Firmware update to your iBook? And if so, do the upgrades still work?

As yet, I have not. But OWC gaurentees that their chips will conform to the new firmware update. My quess is that their chips are the dual CL chips (both 2 and 3) that can take the update.

You can do more comparing at www.ramseeker.com. OWC appears to be a reputable outfit. My experience is that as long as you get courteous service and an unconditional guarantee from an established vendor, shop for the best price.

Thanks everyone for your input. I certainly made my OWC order to boost G4 RAM.
But part of my question was how can it be that OWC makes fully Mac compatible & lifetime warranty RAM at about 1/2 the going price (and 1/4 th Apple's price)? If I could find a business where I could make a product at 1/2 cost of competitors -- yet still make a profit, I'd be in hog heaven. maybe could even afford my Mac and BMW motorcycle habit.
Any speculation as how they can post such a price?
Thanks,
Michael C

So if you are killed in a car accident involving an escaped elephant trampling his trainer and just happening to sit on your car...than your family gets a refund on your ram you bought?
no...wait..
now here's a real question.
i just installed 512 mb ram on my iMac DV. yet, i see not that much improvement. is it impossible to have a whole 1GB in there? or would i just be wasting my time.
